The Curb Appeal Of Your Home

There are two key reasons why you would want to increase the curb appeal of your home. You may be trying to make your neighbours jealous and win an ongoing feud. If that is the case, we completely emphasise, and you are not alone in wanting your house to look the best out of all the ones on the street. Or, you may be trying to sell your home. Curb appeal is rather important to the successful sale of a home because it relates to first impressions. As you may already know, in real estate, first impressions are everything.

Step 1: Tidy Up The Garden

You should cut the grass short and trim back any hedges or overhanging trees. It should be noted that if a tree or bush on your neighbor's property is overhanging onto yours, you have the right to trim it back until it is not intruding. Cut the grass as short as possible because this will make it look a lot neater and remember to get some grass greener. You want your lawn to look lush and full of life. If you own a large piece of land at the front your property and you are part of a neighbourhood looked after by an HOA company, they may sort this out for you. Contact your local council to find out if your area is covered by one of the many HOA management companies.

Step 2: Make The Repairs

As we said, first impressions are everything, and you do not want a buyer's first impression to be, that needs fixing. You want your house to look like a dream. The romantic notion that people love to buy fixer-uppers is a rare occurrence. You are far more likely to get a potential buyer who wants everything sorted before they move in. If you need to make a lot of repairs to your home, you may want to consider hiring a profession. But, if the problems are fairly minor, you could sort them yourself. For instance, we are sure you know how to pull the weeds from between the paving stones.

Step 3: Spruce Up The Green

You need to give your front yard some character and make it look a little unique compared to the other houses on your street. This is particularly important if you are selling your house, and yours is not the only one on the street for sale. Chances are your neighbours house will be more or less the same as yours, so you have to create the illusion that it is different. You could try planting some decorative flowers in a wide variety of colours, framing your yard. Or you may want to get some ornaments that will certainly give your garden more character. If you have the time and the expertise, you could also think about building a stunning water feature. However, usually for safety reasons people build these in their backyards.

Once you have completed these steps, your front garden will look beautiful. You will also have dramatically increased the curb appeal of your home.
